Techie Club Program Overview
Techie Club s an informal education program that includes hands-on, interactive activities tied directly to national CSTA Computer Science standards for 3rd – 6th grade students. The lessons focus on a variety of computing topics, promote 21st century skills and provide students with an awareness of technology and STEM-related careers. Each Club has two (2) instructors and up to 20 students.

Position:     Instructor, Part-Time, Temporary
Wage:     Techie Club – $750 for the full twelve weeks of the program (paid upon program completion) Techie Club 2.0 – $1500 for the full twelve weeks of the program (paid upon program completion)
Dates/Time:     Techie Clubs will be offered during the Fall and/or Spring. Techie Clubs typically run between 3:30pm-5:30pm one day per week.
Locations:     Techie Clubs are offered via partnerships with K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations in Central and Northeast Ohio.


  • Programming (C++, C#, Java, Python)
  • Web Design & Development (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3) and Content Management Systems
  • Graphic Arts and 2D or 3D Video Game Design
  • Robotics and Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical)
  • 3D Printing platforms (TinkerCAD, SketchUp, Makerbot, Polar 3D)
  • Computer Science or Engineering degree preferred but not required.
  • Possess basic knowledge and/or have experience leading, coaching or teaching groups.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations and/or urban teenagers is a plus.

The Techie Club Instructor will be responsible for coordinating and implementing all day-to-day aspects of the Club, including but not limited to:

  • Attend training session prior to Club start date
  • Familiarize and become an expert on Techie Club tools (software & hardware)
  • Review lessons/activities prior to Club and have full understanding of the curriculum in relation to students
  • Have the ability to explain complex ideas to students in a language they can relate to and understand
  • Create a safe classroom environment conducive to cooperative and hands-on learning
  • Record Club through photos and videos, which need to be uploaded to Dropbox
  • Assist students with the successful completion of lessons/activities and evaluation
  • Provide feedback on the students’ experience with the overall program
  • Provide TECH CORPS staff with all program and evaluation data as requested
  • Perform other duties as needed for the successful implementation of the program
