With support from the AEP Foundation Credits Count Program and Columbus State, TECH CORPS will implement its Techie Camp® program with 40 middle school students from across Columbus during the summer of 2017.
Techie Camp is a full-day, week-long technology experience designed specifically for elementary and middle school students. The goal of Techie Camp is to engage students in activities that can stimulate a deeper interest in technology; as well as provide opportunities for them to express their imaginations.
Each camp is comprised of 20 students and lead by two TECH CORPS Instructors.This will be a two-week experience for students with the following tracks:
Week 1: Programming (all students)
Week 2: App Development or Robotics
The camps will run the weeks of June 5-9 AND June 12-16 from 9:00AM-4:00PM each day.*Students must commit to attending both weeks.Families will be responsible for transportation.Camps will be held at the Columbus State Workforce Development (WD) building.
Students interested in being selected to participate will need to complete an online application. Applications will be evaluated in the order received. Up to 20 students will be selected for each camp based on their application (10 points), interest questions (60 points) and letter of recommendation (30 points). Student will be notified via email by Friday, April 7th.
