TECH CORPS® (your state)
Organizing Plan

TECH CORPS is a national non-profit (501c3) organization dedicated to improving K-12 education at the grassroots level through the effective integration of technology into the learning environment. It was founded by Gary Beach, president and CEO of Computerworld, Inc., who envisioned an organization which challenged Americans to build a technology infrastructure for our nation's schools, much like the Peace Corps challenged men and women to help build an infrastructure in developing countries. Following a successful pilot in Massachusetts during the winter and spring of 1995, TECH CORPS was established as a national non-profit in October of 1995.

TECH CORPS brings volunteers with technological skills and expertise into schools to support their technology initiatives. TECH CORPS volunteers conduct teacher training seminars, mentor students and staff, repair and install computers, participate on technology planning teams, work side-by-side with teachers in the classroom, assist teachers with the integration of technology into the curriculum, and support a wide variety of other local technology activities.

To work most effectively with the states' varying economic climates, educational infrastructures, and commitments to educational technology, TECH CORPS is implemented through state chapter organizations. TECH CORPS (your state) has been established to support the existing educational technology programs, organizations, networks, and resources which are in place in the state, and to assist schools in achieving their information technology goals through the skills and expertise of volunteers.
