As concern for the environment grows worldwide, TECH CORPS is stepping up to make a difference. As we celebrate Earth Day 2024, we’re doubling down on our commitment to sustainability by giving old computer gear a new lease on life.
Sustainability
At the heart of TECH CORPS’ sustainability efforts lies its Techie Club program, where students are empowered to explore the inner workings of computers using outdated equipment. They roll up their sleeves, take apart old computers, and learn how each piece works. It’s not only educational but also a way to reduce waste and be eco-friendly.
Over the years, TECH CORPS has donated equipment to groups like the East Atlanta Kids Club in Atlanta, Georgia, GlobalNet Preparatory Academy in Monrovia, Liberia, and TechNe in Elyria, Ohio. These donations have made a big difference in communities by giving them access to technology and learning resources.
For example, kids at the East Atlanta Kids Club now have computers to use for learning and fun. Families at Global Life Ministries can connect with relatives far away and learn about technology. In Elyria, adults are learning digital literacy, thanks to TECH CORPS’ donations.

Carla Easley, Chief Operating Officer at TECH CORPS, underscores the organization’s commitment to making computer science education equitable: “The need for computer science education across the board is compelling. At TECH CORPS, we focus on the K-12 audience, but sharing our resources with other groups extends our reach into our global community.”
