“We built a hand-generator car, top-spinner, mini rover, sound meter, door alarm, and a Line follower. TECHie Camp is awesome!!” – 4th grade student, TECHie Camp 2010
“My son really loved TECHie Camp -- loved his introduction to Alice and what it can provide; loved his instructors; loved the projects; loved the blogging. He came out of camp wanting to do more with Alice and learn some other (programming) languages. His brother did the elementary camp (with Scratch) and felt similarly. These were some of the best camps they have ever done -- they loved them. Both came home after 8 hours and spent another couple working on projects.” – Parent, TECHie Camp 2010
This is what TECHie Camp is all about.
Educating, Exciting and Empowering students with technology!
TECHie Camp is a full day, week long summer program designed to engage 3rd - 8th grade students in hands-on, interactive STEM-related activities. Students take a "deep dive" into subject matter focused on Robotics, Programming or Web Development and emerge with knowledge, concepts and skills that are useful in today's classroom and tomorrow's workplace.
TECH CORPS summer camps provide age-appropriate, hands-on learning activities that stimulate learning and creativity.
During the summer of 2011, more than 500 students will have an opportunity to experience TECHie Camp. Camps will be offered via partnerships with colleges/universities, K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations in Ohio and Texas.
But we need YOU to support our TECHie Camp Scholarship fund-raising effort!
THE NEED:
We recognize that not all families can afford to provide this amazing learning opportunity to their children, so we are asking our supporters and friends to join with us in educating, exciting and empowering our youth by underwriting TECHie Camp Scholarships for deserving students from low-wealth and under-served communities.
Scholarships will be award based on the following criterion: the financial need of the family, the student essay, and the letter of recommendation.
100% of these dollars will be used to provide full or partial scholarships to deserving students.
THE IMPACT:
As a result of your support students will:
- Increase their understanding and knowledge of how to use technology to expand their own learning;
- Elevate their confidence with STEM-related concepts and skills in a safe and supportive environment;
- Develop valuable 21st century skills such as teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking;
- Develop positive attitudes and perceptions about the relevance of technology to their educational and professional success;
- Increase their awareness of STEM-related educational and career pathways;
- And, interact with positive role models employed in technology and STEM related occupations.
“I wish we'd discovered TECHie Camp earlier. This SO meets the needs and interests of so many kids these days; I don't think my daughter even thought of it as learning. I think she's going to be a programmer now!” – Parent, TECHie Camp 2010

Hi my name is Travis...The perfect job I would love to have is a software engineer. The number one reason why I would want to have this job is because I love building. I have been interested in constructing stuff all my life and now I'd love to learn how to build software.

Tech Corps was founded in 1995 by Gary Beach , Publisher Emeritus of CIO Magazine. Gary envisioned an organization which would challenge American volunteers to help K-12 schools build a technology infrastructure -- much like the Peace Corps challenges men and women to help developing countries build their infrastructures. Building from a state pilot in Massachusetts, Tech Corps developed and deployed technology programs and tech-savvy volunteers to assist K-12 schools and youth-serving organizations across the country. Since 1995, more than 10,000 Tech Corps volunteers have
