Program Overview: This year, 500 high school students in Akron, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Elyria will have the opportunity to compete in our sixth TECHCORPShack. The TECHCORPShack is a 12-hour event that gives high school students the opportunity to develop a mobile app that tackles a real-world need or problem.
Position Summary
Part-time/Temporary position responsible for coordinating and implementing all day-to-day aspects of assigned TECH CORPS programs. Each program is supported by two (2) Instructors and up to 25 students (per group).
Date/Time: Saturday, November 11th from 9am-9pm (arrive at 8:00am)
Location: TECHCORPShack in Columbus will take place at Africentric Early College PK-8, Capital University, and Linden Community Center. Instructors can select their preferred location (if available).
Wage: $500 for the day.
- Attend training session prior to program date
- Become knowledgeable of program tools (lessons/activities, software/hardware) prior to program date
- Be able to explain complex ideas to students so they can relate and understand
- Build a safe classroom environment conducive to collaborative and hands-on learning
- Assist students with the successful completion of lessons/activities and evaluation
- Provide feedback on the students’ experience with the overall program
- Provide TECH CORPS staff with all program and evaluation data as requested
- Perform other duties as needed for the successful implementation of the program
- Passion (for the mission of the organization), Creativity and Initiative
- Knowledge and/or experience leading, mentoring or teaching groups
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Previous experience working with diverse populations and/or urban students is a plus
- Computer Science or Engineering experience/major/degree preferred but not required
- Programming/coding
- Experience with Swift (Apple) development
- Experience with Apple products including iPad and Macbook
- Open-source software, including image, audio, video manipulation, web authoring and programming environments
