Empowering Tomorrow’s Innovators: Over 400 Students Create Solutions at 2024 TECH CORPS Hackathon
For many participants, it was their first foray into coding, offering a hands-on introduction to career-connected, project-based learning. Along the way, students honed critical collaboration and presentation skills, preparing them for success in the classroom and tomorrow’s workforce.
The TECH CORPS Hackathon goes beyond a competition—it’s a powerful investment in Ohio’s future. Thanks to the generous support of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, The City of Columbus-City Council, Nordson Corporation Foundation, AT&T, Progressive, SciTech Science and Technology Institute, OhioTechNet, CoverMyMeds, and WillowTree, a Tellus International Company, students thrived in a safe, supportive environment where they built skills, increased confidence and expanded their horizons.
Congratulations to the 11 regional winning teams who took home over $10,000 in cash and prizes! These outstanding teams will be celebrated during Computer Science Education Week at the Ohio Statehouse on Wednesday, December 11th, where local lawmakers will present commendations and recognize their incredible achievements.

Volunteers and Instructors
More than 100 dedicated volunteers and 28 expert instructors came together to inspire and empower students during the 2024 TECH CORPS Hackathon. Their generosity in sharing time, knowledge, and expertise had a profoundly positive impact on the student teams.
Volunteers played key roles, serving as judges to evaluate the students’ mobile apps, while others ensured smooth event logistics. Meanwhile, the instructors guided the students through the intricacies of app development with patience and encouragement. As students embraced challenges and celebrated achievements, strong bonds formed, and productive struggles became stepping stones to success. Each team emerged stronger, thanks to the unwavering support of their instructors and the larger TECH CORPS community.
WCMH4: Hackathon lets central Ohio kids learn coding
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)—TECH CORPS hosted its sixth annual hackathon, which aims to foster a new generation of tech innovators.
It gives central Ohio kids the opportunity to learn about coding from technology professionals. This is the sixth year this program has taken place, and according to the CEO of TECH CORPS, Lisa M. Chambers, the hope remains the same: to give these kids the chance to reach their full potential no matter who they are.
